I am running RedHat 8.0 on one computer and Lindows OS 2.1 on the other. I
installed SunMicrosystem's Java on each. I have Linux Netscape 7.0 on one PC and
the above-referenced Mozilla browser on the other.

When I type in a nickname (it can be anything) and press the "connect" button,
nothing happens on either Linux PC/Browser.

Of course, I don't have that problem on a third computer which runs Windows 98
and IE Explorer.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click on web page, http://www.atvtime/chatroom.htm
2.type in a nickname. It can be anything.
3.click "connect" button.

Actual Results:
Nothing.

Expected Results:
It should have opened up a Chatroom, "#atvtime_friends.
Rhino is a standalone language engine. Reassigning to OJI component,
which deals with Java in the browser and applet problems.

The site WORKSFORME using Java Plug-in 1.4.1 on WinNT,
and Mozilla trunk build 20021204xx.

Clay:

1. Which version of the Sun Java plug-in is Mozilla using?
   (Help > About Plug-ins)

2. If it's up-to-date (1.4.x), could you try a new build
of Mozilla and see if that works any better?

3. If that still doesn't work: are you getting any errors
in the Java or JavaScript Consoles pertaining to this site?

(Help > Web Development > Java Console)
(Help > Web Development > JavaScript Console)

(Be sure to clear these of errors pertaining to other sites
    before logging into this site)

by using mozilla1.2.1 + jre1.4.1_01 on win2k.
I can login chatroom.

Will try on linux
I resolved the problem.

I was using java 1.3.1.02 b02.

Downloaded and installed Java 1.4.01, and the Chat Room opened.

Side comment - Installing java 1.4.01 was difficult. I wish that java was
installed with the browser, as it is with the Windows version of Netscape 7.0.

Thanks,

Clay D
