[blue sky] move migration code work out from mozilla/profile and into applications (like mozilla/mailnews) I'm sure we all would like to see the day that our other bugs are fixed and we could get to this. but still worth putting in bugzilla. alecf writes: "Really I think the whole upgrader service needs a hook to allow plugged-in applications like mail to do their own upgrading...i.e. all the code to copy over .na2 files should be in the mozilla or possibly even the commercial tree...might I suggest a category-based approach where the upgrader instantiates all members of a category and calls them on some well known interface?" ccarlen writes: "I like the idea of breaking up migration to where it's needed. As Alec suggested, use category manager to instantiate the interested parties, and then QI to an API which allowed a 2-phase approach: (1) compute needed data size, and (2) migrate it."

AFAIK Thunderbird and SeaMonkey have no application specific migration routines in the mozilla-central profile/ directory. Therefore this bug (as best as I can work out from it) needs nothing doing.
