[blue sky] move migration code work out from mozilla/profile and into
applications (like mozilla/mailnews)

I'm sure we all would like to see the day that our other bugs are fixed and we
could get to this.

but still worth putting in bugzilla.

"Really I think the whole upgrader service needs a hook to allow plugged-in
applications like mail to do their own upgrading...i.e. all the code to copy
over .na2 files should be in the mozilla or possibly even the commercial
tree...might I suggest a category-based approach where the upgrader instantiates
all members of a category and calls them on some well known interface?"

ccarlen writes:

"I like the idea of breaking up migration to where it's needed. As Alec
suggested, use category manager to instantiate the interested parties, and then
QI to an API which allowed a 2-phase approach: (1) compute needed data size, and
(2) migrate it."

sorry for the spam. making bugzilla reflect reality as I'm not working on these bugs. filter on FOOBARCHEESE to remove these in bulk.

AFAIK Thunderbird and SeaMonkey have no application specific migration routines in the mozilla-central profile/ directory. Therefore this bug (as best as I can work out from it) needs nothing doing.
