User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030314 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030314 From work I log on to my computer at home with Terminal Services Client (rdesktop) a.k.a. RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol)...sorry for the many names! When logged on I often start the Mozilla browser from the quicklaunch icon or the desktop icon. The resolution on my work computer is 1152x768. When I return home and start Mozilla again, the prompt for proxy-password takes up the entire screen and no input fields are visible. The resolution on my home computer is 1024x768. After this, it is nessecary to kill mozilla.exe with the task manager and restart it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log on to a remote XP workstation and use mozilla for surfing. It might be nessecary to do this with a machine that has a different resolution than the remote machine. 2. Close the browser but keep the quicklaunch icon. 3. Go to the remote machine and start mozilla. The size of the window is wrong! Actual Results: Mozilla shows the proxy password prompt as a full screen window. When pressing escape I get the browser window - also broken. Expected Results: The proxy password prompt should have been much smaller and the browser window also.

This may very well be related to bug 270375 (which may or may not be easier to reproduce).

This bug happens to me on my WinXP laptop (notebook) all the time. I am running Firefox 1.0. Sometimes I plug my laptop into a 1280x1024 screen. Other times I use the laptop LCD which is 1024x768. I usually leave a firefox window running. When I open up the lid on the train, my firefox window often (always?) has lost its vertical scrollbar. I have also seen the other behaviour mentioned in the dupes, e.g. a newly created browser window will have a vertical scrollbar. Also the status bar, the location bar, and the tab bar all extend off the right hand side of the screen, even though the window is maximised with the red close box in the top right corner. I suspect the root cause is firefox not updating its internal variables correctly in response to a desktop resize. So I think it is not specific to Remote Desktop, because a desktop resize can occur for a number of reasons in WinXP. This is an annoying bug to me even though I rarely actually drag the scrollbar, because I use the scroll bar as an indication of how long a web page is, and whereabouts I am in it.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. I got this user report the other day, which seems like the same bug:
> Firefox has this issue where if you open it on a computer, then later remote desktop into that
> computer, the sizing of the tabs gets all screwed up - the content doesn't shrink to stay within
> the boundaries of each tab's pane. The only fix seems to be closing and restarting Firefox.

This bug still exists using Thunderbird v2.0.0.21 (20090302) and Remote Desktop client 6.0.6001. I'll attach a screen shot.

Example showing the gap that appears each time I log in with Remote Desktop, then direct on the PC, then via Remote Desktop, etc... The example shows the result after doing several cycles.

Sorry -- I thought I was in the Thunderbird topic, but I see now this topic is referencing "the browser" (FireFox). However, that does suggest the issue is in the common underlying framework, rather than it being a FF or TB issue.

I have the same problem here in Thunderbird after I logged into a MS Windows remote desktop session. My configuration: - Local: Dual screen 2 desktops - RDesktop: Dual Screen 1 desktop fullscreen - Windows Vista x64 - Thunderbird on 2nd screen - RDesktop started as mstsc /f /span The resize icon appears on the top-right of the gap instead at the bottom right of the screen (which is not shown in the screenshot).
