when i clear the cache in mozilla and look at c:\documents and
settings\"user"\local settings\temp (wich is the default directory) everything i
opened is still there.
changing the cache folder doesn't work either.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open atachement in Mail client
2.clear the cache
3.check the cache folder with explorer

Expected Results:
mozilla should have cleared everything in the cache folder

i'm using mozilla 1.4 rc3
Did you set that directory to be your cache directory?

look at about:config for:
browser.cache.disk.parent_directory

It sounds like you are looking at a non-cache temp directory. Cache doesn't tell
the rest of the browser what to do w/ all their files.
Yes, to this directory points the default user environment variable %TEMP% on
W2K/WXP. I think the reporter mixed something up here.
