Background Information

Embedded within your browser is something called a "root certificate." This
helps to establish an encrypted connection with a secure site, like Charles
Schwab & Co., Inc.
All Netscape browsers version 4.05 and below have a "root certificate," provided
by a company named VeriSign that will expire on December 31,1999.
Recommended Solution
To ensure continued secure access, upgrade to the latest version of Netscape
Communicator or use Microsoft Internet Explorer to access Charles Schwab and
other e-commerce sites.
Please download and install a new browser as soon as possible, but no later than
December 31, 1999.
Download Netscape Communicator
Download Microsoft Internet Explorer

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to http://www.schwab.com/
2. click Client Login

Actual Results:
The login page is displayed, but I am not allowed to log in

Expected Results:
The root certificate used should not have an expiration date of 12/31/1999
Firebird doesn't:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030710 Mozilla
Firebird/0.6

Seamonkey works:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030709

My belief is whatever the real version detection code they're using is
misdetecting firebird as an earlier version of Mozilla/Netscape, causing the
problem. Since they don't throw this error for Seamonkey builds with almost the
same UA string, and navigator.appVersion and navigator.userAgent return the same
version code within JavaScript, this is something you'll want to address with
their tech support. If they're not willing to deal with you over this, it could
be reopened and moved to Tech Evangelism. Since its their code that's
misdetecting the browser version, and they do appear to support Mozilla already,
I would say this is a problem they'd be willing to resolve unless they're not
ready to support Firebird yet.
