When "replying to all" on a Newsgroup message, you both reply to the newsgroup -
by NNTP - as to the poster of the message - by SMTP.
Generally speaking, one uses an obfuscated mail address in the NNTP account,
e.g. serge@vanginderachter.be.thisaddressis.invalid.
Problem is that you want to send an NNTP post like this, but probably do not wat
to use your obfuscated address for the SMTP mail.
I get bugged by this even more, as my ISP checks my "FROM: address" domain, and
returns an error when using a non existent domain. Which will be always the case
when you use an RFC compliant obfuscated SMTP address.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use an obfuscated SMTP address (like
serge@vanginderachter.be.thisaddressis.invalid) in your NNTP account.
2. Browse a newsgroup and reply-to-all to a post.
3. This "bug" is even more obvious if your ISP blocks SMTP mail with a non
existent domain (domain without valid NS records?), used in the FROM: header.

Actual Results:
I could not perform a reply-to-all in this particular case.
In fact, my NNTP post got posted, when my SMTP post did not (I get a message
back from my ISP stating that the FROM: address is not valid) and this behaviour
is not clear. When correcting the post for using a 'valid' account (with an non
obfuscated FROM: address) for SMTP I get 2 bad results:
Secondly (not sure:) a second NNTP post gets posted with a valif SMTP address,
and I will get spammed more :( and I get flamed in that newsgroup for posting
twice the same message

Expected Results:
When defingin a NNTP aacount, I should be able to mark another existing SMTP
account to be used for SMTP mail within this account. This should give a better
behaviour than using the obfuscated "FROM: address" defined for NNTP postings.

Just an idea, I don't know if this might be handy, but maybe adding the
possibility for generating/using an automaticly obfuscated mail address in the
newsgroup account settings? Although I guess having everyone using the same type
of obfuscation would get beyond the original idea for obfuscation...
This may come as a surprise to you, but obfuscated names in newsgroups are not
generally considered "standard practice," or even encouraged, however much it
actually is done. Furthermore, "reply to all" is generally not considered good
newsgroup conduct; most people who are posting to a newsgroup prefer the
responses to end up in the newsgroup.

The workaround for this problem is to send the reply only to the newsgroup, then
find the copy in the Sent folder, select Edit As New; this will open a mail
window with the From: identity set to your default mail identity. Remove the
newsgroup(s) from the addressees and add the mail recipients.
