Error message: Sending of message failed.

The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server
mail.splitzero.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP
connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try
again, or else contact your system administrator. 

This occurs when trying to send email.  password and username as well as all
related settings are properly set.  Please see the forum entry at
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=267208#267208 for details on what
troubleshooting has already been done.

Error logging shows "SMTP Response: 421 child crashed (#4.3.0)" as the error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create mail
2. send mail
3. enter password
4. error

Actual Results:  
error message: Sending of message failed.

Expected Results:  
sent email

Attempted to send mail each of the last 3 days and received the same error. 
Outlook Express has been able to send mail.
"SMTP Response: 421 child crashed (#4.3.0)" is a clear server error.
(a part of the server crashed)

"Outlook Express has been able to send mail."
That doesn't matter, please try it again with a client that supports the secure
cram-md5 login (Outlook supports only "login","plain",...)

-> invalid
Status: UNCONFIRMED → RESOLVED
Closed: 21 years ago
Resolution: --- → INVALID
