Probably you should wait for bug 232011 to be checked in, then you can do that
in the existing contents.rdf and don't need a .in for that.
The transition should be easy now if you want to use the XUL preprocessor (what
would be the right way), see 232011

actually I think this bug is invalid / already fixed.

Thunderbird uses the xul pp to do this and was converted over a couple weeks
ago. I just forgot about this bug.
