Have an option (about:config at least) to chop mailing list footer/signature's
in a response.

To complete this feature research would have to be done if there is a RFC on
mailing lists, and what defaults mailing lists use as footers.

The default for the mailman lists on both mozilla.org and mozdev.org is the "-"
(dash) character repeated 48 times with no whitespace.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Receive an email from a mailing list which doesn't contain "-- "
2. Hit Reply with 'Automatic quotation' enabled

Actual Results:
Mailing list footer remains.

Expected Results:
Mailing list footer is removed.

If there is a "-- "(signature delimiter) before the mailing list footer,
everything below and including the delimiter will be cut in the response.

This behavior already exists in Mozilla. In a reply, everything below "-- " is
deleted. But right now it's buggy, and is causing undesired effects. See Bug 201581.

Reporter, is this bug about improving this feature? If not, this bug is invalid,
because the feature already exists.

Marcos.
1. Note the 3rd last line of my description in reference to "-- "
2. Note the Severity "enhancement"

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
