on line 935 of nsMsgThread.cpp, the message "need to reset thread root key" is printed to the console via printf. CVS blame says the code has been there since 2000, but I'm only now (with 1.6) just seeing this message. Anyway, it doesn't need to be printed to the console and if it's needed, should be printed via PR_LOG.
I see this on Solaris 8 Mozilla 1.7 starting suddenly today and continuing to display whenever I click on the trash folder.

CVS says this was checked in a long time ago: 1.78 <bienvenu@nventure.com> 2004-09-29 07:23 ifdef printf when resetting thread root key, 232080 ->FIXED.
