User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; zh-CN; rv:1.4.1) Gecko/20040102 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; zh-CN; rv:1.4.1) Gecko/20040102 In Netscape4.x, -remote works between different users. But for mozilla, it can't Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.start mozilla on machine A with user account "a" 2.xhost + 3.rlogin machine B from A with user account "b" 4.set DISPLAY=A:0.0 on B 5.mozilla -remote "openURL(http://www.mozilla.org,new-window)" Actual Results: "No running window is found" will machine B's console. Expected Results: A new mozilla window will popup on machine A. Yes, I know there maybe a security issue, if we allow user to do this (like netscape). But from the user's point of view, He can use this properity in netscape. But after he migrated to mozilla1.4, he will find that this feature is not supported any more. This will some applications based on this feature don't work with mozilla. What's more, in fact, if in step 5 above, user use "netscape -remote ...", He can get what he wants. I.e. if there is any security issue. it does exist in current mozilla. So my question is: do we support this feature or fix this security issue? Thanks

It's a feature, not a bug. If you want to fake out the mozilla -remote code client side just do this: LOGNAME=<other username> mozilla -remote openurl('http://blah.com')
