I just switched from 1.6 release to this 1.7beta, and the Compact Folders
command from the file menu seems to take much longer to complete. Everything
else about reading my mail from my server seems this same or slightly faster,
but that particular function seems to take anywhere from two to five times the
amount of time to remove the deleted messages from my folder display.

Reporter, we're now compacting ALL folders, not just the currently selected one
as we used to do.
if you want to compact a single folder, use the context menu to "compact this
folder". Compact Folders compacts all folders in the account, not just the
single folder (the old behaviour was a bug)

Is there any other way to compact the currently selected folder besides the
context menu? I have severe hand problems and must use voice recognition to use
my computer, so using a context menu is literally a real pain for me.

Any chance of a regular menu item for "compact this folder" or at least a
command key shortcut, or even some sort of Apple script command that I can
automate and connect to my voice recognition software?
That's bug 239154
I don't think my complaint has anything to do with 239154, bug 164746 is much
more relevant.
seems like an accessibility problem in general if there's no way to bring up the
context menu from voice recognition software, and that should be the focus, not
moving things to the file menu. Cc'ing Aaron.
Doesn't Ctrl+space bring up the context menu on Mac? Or are we still missing
support for that?
A mac user would have to try cntrl space - I don't know myself.
Yes, that works on the Mac. I can probably put together a few command sequences
with that and the change pane (f6) command that will work. Thanks - I guess I
never tried that command key combination before.

The more I think about this though, the more I think the comments from 164746
are the best - the compact folders command should only compact the folders that
were opened in this particular session.
