User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040415 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040415 Firefox/0.8 When scrolling the page http://home.houston.rr.com/verrett/gh/contact.htm with the mousewheel, the page scrolls extremely slowly compared with IE 6. I rebooted my computer, but got the same result. Although I have 396 meg of memory installed, so it shouldn't matter, Windows 2K reports that Firefox is using about 18K of memory when IE 6 uses about 6K for displaying the same page. Could indicate a rendering problem with the page that is sucking up resources. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open page http://home.houston.rr.com/verrett/gh/contact.htm 2. Try to scroll the page with the mousewheel (Logitech MX 300 in my case) 3. Notice how SLOWLY and jerkily the scrolling occurs. Actual Results: Scrolling is extremely slow. Expected Results: Smooth, quick scrolling ("Use smooth scrolling" is turned on in "Tools" "Options" "Advanced") As I said earlier, when displaying the page (http://home.houston.rr.com/verrett/gh/contact.htm) Firefox uses much more memory than IE 6.

I also encountered this bug, although I'm not sure if it's completely a problem with firefox. I am also using a Logitech MX 300 mouse on an XP system. I didn't have any problems with scrolling until I installed the software that came with it from Logitech: MouseWare 9.7 (for Windows). This allows for programming the mouse buttons and other added functionality. Anyway, when I installed MouseWare, the scrolling in firefox was slow on every webpage that I tried, and when I uninstalled it the scrolling was fine again. I repeated installation/uninstallation with the same results. With MouseWare installed, scrolling was fine in most other programs, but I did notice that it was also slow on 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel.

I have a feeling the MouseWare autoscroll and Firefox's autoscroll are conflicting with each other, causing this problem.

My MouseWare scrolling is also very slow. I think it is related to the scrolling settings for the mouse. In the mouse driver I have set it to Screen, but this doesn't seem to work in Firefox. Looks like it scrolls only one line at a time :-( I could override the scroll size in Firefox, but than it would become dependent on the window size

(In reply to comment #6) > Onno, ... > still see this issue? I don't have a logitech mouse anymore, so I wouldn't know... Maybe better ask the original poster

Hmz. I have found my old logitech mouse with scroll wheel, but cannot find the logitech mouseware software anymore on their website... Without this software the mouse wheel works fine
