an ever increasing number of site's banners/banner images do not display, at
all, BLANK

This is WFM in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7b)
Gecko/20040421.  I note that the images are not on the originating server - are
you set to accept all images (Edit -> Prefs. -> Privacy -> Images)?

You must have images from other servers blocked as mentioned in comment 1 or
have blocked images from that server.
