242949 - The resized versions of large images are full of noise

Whenever I go to an exceptionally large image, such as the Mars Rover NASA
images, and click on the image to get the original sized version and then click
back I get an image full of noise.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Bring up the image in the URL
2. The first time the resized image will appear OK
3. Click on the image to get the larger version
4. The larger version looks OK
5. Click on the image to see the resized version
6. The new resized version will be noisy
7. Clicking back and forth has no affect on the resized image, the large image
will continue to look OK.



Expected Results:  
The image should not have become noisy, just reduced in size.

I'm using the Orbit 3+1 1.5 Mik theme, I haven't tried it without the theme. 
Also, if it's a video card issue, I have the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with 256MB of
memory.
I'll attach a screenshot with the results I am seeing.

Resizing the window has no affect either.  The resized image just changes
relative size but remains noisy.

Tried it with the default theme and I get the same results.
Also, my steps to reproduce might be a little wrong.  I said that the first time
the resized image is displayed it looks OK, this appears to not be the case.

can you mention video card driver version and eventually upgrade to latest version ?
Please try with Mozilla 1.7RC1.

Using ATI Driver version 6.14.10.6360 dated 6/2/2003, I'll upgrade the driver
and check it again.
Is there a way to use mozilla 1.7rc1 without affecting my current install?

Rey, I *think* it's an ATI problem.  I've seen the same thing with my systems
using ATI cards (both Win98 and WinXP), but (I think) I haven't seen it on my
non-ATI systems.

The new ATI driver is now 6.14.10.6436 with a date of 3/22/2004 and I tried the
link I set again, and it doesn't appear to be a problem any more.
So I guess you are right, it was an ATI problem and seems to have been fixed. 
I'll reopen the bug if it happens again and I can pinpoint the issue a little
better.
