Details
Using 2000-01-19-08 commercial build on linux 6.0 Haven't yet gotten a chance to test on other platforms When you use the menu item File|Load First Draft Message while there are indeed drafts present in the drafts folder a crash occurs. If there are no drafts present in the drafts folder, using the menu item will just beep. 1. Launch 5.0 and go to mail. 2. Select a mail inbox, login with proper password. 3. Compose a new message and Save As Draft. 4. Close the compose window. 5. File|Load First Draft Message. Result: a crash occurs.
Talkback incident #4142863. Can't get to the report details at present to get stack.

And what the heck is "load first draft message"? Jennifer?
Load the first draft is the hack Rich put it in in the early days. I'll fix it along fixing this.
Changing qa assigned to pmock@netscape.com since this is one of my areas. Adding nbaca to cc: list regarding this menu item.

Can we just take out the menu command?

Well, then the Save Draft is kind of useless then. - rhp

Whiteboard: have fix
I would expect Drafts would work the same as 4.x. Save a message being composed and it is saved to the Drafts folder. Then you go to the Drafts folder and select the message when you want to work with it again. No menu item.
Not crashing fix checked in. Change target milestone to M14.

Why M14? The fix will in in M13 right?

Yes, this is just a temp fix until we get the real (4.x) functionality implemented. Scott Putterman has that bug in his feature work. - rhp

Testing bug 24450 which references this bug and using build 2000012109m13 on win98, 2000012108m13 on linux, 2000012108m13 on mac the crash part of this bug is fixed. jefft did you want to leave this open for the removal of the menu item? OR did you intend to resolve this as fixed?

Let leave this open so I can come back later for removing the menu item. Thanks,

Clearing crash from the keywords field, since the crash part of this was fixed and verified. Also cleared status whiteboard "have fix". Changing summary to reflect remaining issue: remove the Load First Draft menu item when the real menu item and open via double-click (bug #10796) are implemented.
Keywords: crash
Summary: Using menu item File|Load First Draft causes crash. → Remove menu item File|Load First Draft
Whiteboard: have fix

Will leave this on M14 until we decide whether drafts are in or out for B1.

Menu item removed. putterman and ducarroz enabled double click to open draft/template in the compose window.
