Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8

I'm using an external pkcs11 module (for the Dallas Semiconductor Java iButton).
I've been using this in Thunderbird since I started using Thunderbird, maybe
0.3? At any rate starting with 0.6 each time I start thunderbird it has
forgotten my pkcs11 module. Each time I start it up I have to go into Tools,
Account Settings, pick one of the accounts and select the Security sub-item,
then click on "Manage Security Devices...", then Load the module again
(c:\windows\system32\dspkcs.dll). Once I re-Load it everything works fine but if
I exit Thunderbird and start it up again it is gone and does not appear inthe
Security Modules and Devices list nor do I see my 2 certificates that are on
this device.

I have even tried deleting my existing cert8.db key3.db secmod.db and then
starting up fresh. Still when I exit and the rerun thunderbird my pkcs11 module
is not longer present. Perhaps this is really a PSM bug but I wasn't sure so I'm
logging it here first.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Tools, Account Settings, <any account>, Security, Manage Security Devices, Load
2. send signed email, all is good
3. exit thunderbird
4. restart thunderbird
5. attempt to send signed email

Actual Results:
When I attempt to send a signed email after just starting thunderbird I get the
error message popup "Sending of message failed. You specified that this message
should be digitally signed, but the application either failed to find the
signing certificate specified in your Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings, or the
certificate has expired."

Expected Results:
It should've signed the mail and sent it. And, once I go back in and load the
pkcs11 module again, it does find the certificate (and private key) and is able
to send the signed emails again and my certs and all show up under Manage
Certificates.

dup of bug 242576?
The symptoms are exactly the same, I'm assuming it is. I guess I'll find out
with Thunderbird 1.7. Sorry I didn't find the other one, I really did look to
see if this bug was already logged!
