244316 - Mail opens urls on top of my named-window/JS app

mozilla 1.6, linux & w2k

I have a JS app opened with a window name.
If I go read mail and close all other browsers except my JS app,
links that I click on in mail content render in my named-window
and I lose the JS app content.

I was told that mailnews should not be touching named windows, that
it should either reuse an un-named window.  What's the rule here?
Is this a bug, or am I not opening my window properly?

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project.
