Downloaded Firefox (0.9 branch) zip build, 20040530 and used a fresh directory and fresh profile (deleted previous %AppData%/Firefox I was immediately launched into ProfileManager and asked to create a profile. I am not sure if this should have been done automatically. Anyway, I created the profile, checked the 'don't ask at startup' checkbox and launched FF. It worked correctly. However, on every subsequent launch I would be asked to choose the user profile again

Hrm, the profile manager shouldn't have appeared to begin with. This means that profiles.ini is not writable, or something equally odd. Can you check Application Data\Firefox for a profiles.ini file, and attach it?

I checked my shortcut, it was firefox.exe -p default. I used to use the shortcut for the nightly. Guess that doesn't work for the branch anymore removing the -p default and just invoking firefox.exe causes 20040601 to start automatically closing this bug and removing blocking 0.9?
