If I turn off the sidebar via View->Sidebar, the current document's scrollbar
stops working until I reload the document.
I can't reproduce this using today's opt comm build on Linux. What platform are
you seeing this on?
linux, with today's tip.
Oh, my sidebar was also collapsed at the time, dunno if that makes a difference

Also, I'll bet you have to be viewing a static html page instead of a CGI, so
the page doesn't reload off the server, and only reflows. Adding beard to the CC
because it might be whacking the view somehow
reproduced on Linux using today's comm. opt bits. it is scrolling, the
content is just not updating during or after the scroll. If you obscure the
content, it updates correctly when exposed. reassigning to beard

This appears to be Linux-specific, I can't repro on Win98 or Mac OS. updating
platfor/OS, cc'ing pavlov.

Sounds like an event handling problem. Handing off to pavlov.

I don't see this. Am I the only one?
Yeah, I can see this.

1) make sure the sidebar is showing
2) load http://www.mozilla.org
3) select 'view -> sidebar' to collapse the sidebar
4) try scrolling with the vertical scrollbar

The canvas does not update with the new scrolled-to position of the content.
But cover the mozilla window and expose it again, and the canvas is updated.

pav, if you can't see this on your system, I'll show you on mine.

I sometimes get unusable scroll bars (they move with arrow keys and mouse drags,

but don't move the actual contents) when a page is loading in the background,

such as opening a link in a new window and then focussing on the original window

as it loads.

A reload will always fix the problem.

marking this bug a dup of 34033... this bug doesn't really describe the real
problem, but gives a good way to exploit the bug.
