(Whiteboard: In queue)

Here's the story:
rue, the official developer, has so far only released n35 which is 0.8 compatible.

Other people have repackaged n35,n36,n37 and n38 to be firefox 0.9 compatible,
and are available at various places.

All of the revisions after n35, have some problems with blocking flash/iframes
or some other content, leading to lots of complaints from users.
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=86746

Two options come to mind:
Either
a) Remove adblock from update.mozilla.org until rue updates it.
or
b) Replace repackaged n37 with repackaged n35 which actaully works.
http://www.danielryan.org/files/Adblock0.5d2Firefox0.9CompatibleNightly35.xpi
It has to be noted that n35 will only work with branch versions of Firefox 0.9.
Now that should cater for most users since the branch is the focus of
development. However, I think that trunk users can also use update.mozilla.org
and therefore n35 wouldn't work at all for them (whilst n37 works partially, but
is broken).

N37 certainly should go, but perhaps it would be wiser to:

1. Have both n35 Branch version of Adblock and n38 for those that use the trunk.
OR
2. Remove Adblock from the listing until Rue releases a version that works in
both trunk and branch to end all this confusion.
I have removed AdBlock until a version is posted to adblock.mozdev.org.

So the silence will hold no longer:
.
Apologies for all the confusion. Let me clarify what is official and what is
not. There is a version of Adblock posted to adblock.mozdev.org: 0.5 d2 nightly
35. -This- is the only official version we have released.
.
For testing purposes, I posted n36 and n37 to some dev-threads, but they were
incomplete builds.
.
I've promised many important features over the past six months, and the time has
finally come to make good on that. Adblock version 0.6 has been in active, Daily
development for over a month. It is definitely coming, and it will be big.
.
But, due to the immediate confusion with dev-builds, I'm commissioning our
newest team-member, Ben, to release n39 -- an interim build of n37. It will
essentially bring n35's functionality to firefox + mozilla's new contentPolicy API.
.
n39 followed by v.6 -- the silence has been broken.
Adblock d2 nightly 39 is now listed at:
http://adblock.mozdev.org/dev.html

and is listed as firefox 0.9 compatible. (verified working with my 0.9)

minVer and maxVer should match the values that this is compatible with. maxVer
should be less than 1.0, since 1.0 has not been released yet. For more
information about the install.rdf file, please consult the spec or the forums.
could you please take a look at bug 248090, even if that bug is resolved as
invalid it seems to be a firefox 0.9 crash related to adblock.
You should be posting to bugzilla.mozdev.org, not here, for an extension crash.
While there are attempts to make the application as "safe" as possible,
extensions can do their own things.
updated for max.ver 0.9.1+
I need a contact email address for this. At the moment, I've changed it to
Rue's email.
Whiteboard: In queue
alan: per contact, that's fine. this is for internal site-listing?
.
also, the official xpi has been updated twice this evening. should i just hit
this thread everytime we update?
Yes, it is internal unless you choose to make it otherwise.

I downloaded the XPI tonight, so it shouldn't be too old. Seeing as how this is
a development build, I'd prefer at least a week before you reopen the bug.
sounds good.
.
i'll never reopen it, btw -- only post to the thread. our "dev" status is just a
self-applied label, which helps keep users wanting to upgrade. this is a
forward-moving project which considers every release to be its best.
.
lastly, if u.m.o. would prefer less frequent updates, consider linking straight
to our static-xpi. we maintain continual compatibility with every browser, from
moz1.0 forward -- but the 'forward' part only stands when our very latest is
offered.
UMO hosts the files on the mozilla.org mirrors, not linking to an external site.
Since the bug is assigned to me, I'll get the emails. Eventually you'll be
able to upload the new one yourself.

some minor description-info i was hoping you could update. your records will
probably have the most accurate stat for the last one:
.
author: The Adblock Crew
.
desc: Once installed, it's a snap to filter elements at their source-address.
Just right-click: Adblock: done. Filters use either the wildcard character (*)
or full Regular Expression syntax. Hit the status-element and see what has or
hasn't been blocked. Scripts, backgrounds, even Flash -- anything can be caught.
Plugin-media sport floating tabs, and failing that: a menu-option overlays all
embedded media. There's link-checking, site blocking.. even a nifty Quickblock
feature which lets you click-hide -- no filtering. When the ethical urge
overwhelms, just tap the keys and Adblock toggles off. It's that easy.
.
download-count: 130,000
description updated. the original would have been pulled from the XPI. No, we
can't just bump up your download count. Sorry.
well. restore is more like it.
.
i'm sure in the end Somebody can, but i'd also understand if there were policies
against it, so it's kewl.
alan: your email service bounced, so i have to spam the bug.
.
the description-update you posted didn't take; the text is cut-off. also, the
author should be "The Adblock Crew". thanks.
Yes, this email address is restricted to mail from mozilla.org. Keeps the spam
down.

Nothing I can do about the truncated description. That's a backend bug. I
changed the name from Adblock Team to Adblock Crew. I didn't realize such a
change was necessary.
alan: the extension-room had long vs. short description-entries. perhaps the
same, here?
.
http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=16
We're going to truncate for the short description, hopefully at a period or in
some way that makes sense. As usual with mozilla.org, developer resources are
limited and there are other bugs that have priority.
