I have an IMAP account with multiple folders. These folders happend to be
subfolders but I don't thin that is related. I have INBOX, INBOX.Drafts,
Inbox.Sent, Inbox.SPAM, Inbox.Trash, etc. If I view the first four folders,
everything works ok. As soon as I view other folders, nothing happens. Enabling
the IMAP debug and doing a tcpflow trace on the imap server, shows that no imap
communication occurs for the problem folders. The problem is not specific to
certain folders. If I restart mozilla and start off viewing a different set of
folders, then the first four folders work ok, subsequent folders don't work.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Mozilla MailNews
2. Click folder 1. Ok.
3. Click folder 2. Ok.
4. Click folder 3. Ok.
5. Click folder 4. Ok.
6. Click folder 5. Nothing.
7. Click folder 4. Ok.
8. Click folder 5. Nothing.
9. Click folder 6. Nothing.
10. Click folder 3. Ok.
Summary: Connection handle with multiple folders → Connection handle with multiple folders does not work with more than four folders

In the IMAP tab, what is the setting for Maximum number of server connections to
cache?
Possible reason:

Bug-ID: 71792 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71792

"IMAP Courier - if we exceed number of connections allowed for our IP address,
subsequent connection attempts fail silently."

The number of IMAP connections to cache was originally 5. I tried it at 10 and 0
but this did not change the effect.

We are using Courier which works fine, in this respect, with Moz 1.7 under linux.
I've just tried with max connections equal to 4 and this solves the problem.

So, this is probably a dup, as suggested, of

   http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71792

There were no warning dialogs though. Just a failure to read the folders on IMAP.

The reason it worked on linux (my usual OS), is that (at some time past) I
had reduced the no of max connections to 2.

The courier configuration is set to MAXPERIP=4, which I will arrange, if
possible to have increased.

Thanks, Andy
