Normally all windows can be closed with ESC. it could be nice it the view source
also could
normally no window can be closed with esc. just look at the browser window, the
mailnews window, etc. dialogs can be closed with esc, but viewsource isn't one...
Well, and what will happen if I begin a `find as you type` and stop it with ESC ?
(I don't think that the answer "check if a `find as you type` is active before
closing" is a good one. For exemple, I usually press more than one time ESC to
stop the search, when my system is very slow and Mozilla doesn't react
immediately...) 
I agree with biesi. Only dialogs should be closable via the ESC key. View Source
is a full-featured window.
