there are scenarios where users would like to use bugzilla, but cannot do so 
because they don't have root access, don't if it's possible at all - but if 
would be really nice if there was a way to put all the required modules into a 
subfolder of bugzilla, and use these in that location - instead of having to 
install all modules in system-wide locations. 
 
Also, support to do most of the installation using a browser-based setup 
script would really be useful - after all it could be made to become 
interactive 
and really display/explain all the necessary steps, that are already 
summarized 
in all the docs. 
 
There are opensource projects which attempt to write perl based installers 
for perl-software,maybe you wanna check some of these out. 
 
And yet another note: I didn't seem to be able to set up bugZilla to be used 
by different webpages, hosted on the same server - e.g. I don't want to only 
have support for multiple projects within bugZilla, but rather also want  
the bugZilla software itself to be available -after one install - for any 
virtual host that I'm running - maybe it's just a lack of docs about that, 
though. 
 
But something like that would definitely be GREAT - maybe even the folks at  
sourceforge.net would finally stop to develop their own childish bugtracker 
and directly use bugZilla their for all projects, too.

You bring up a couple different issues here. In the future, it would be best if
you could file one bug report per problem, and use the mozilla-webtools mailing
list (or the netscape.public.mozilla.webtools newsgroup, they are the same) for
support-related issues/questions.

This is currently possible, and documented in the docs. See
http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/2.18/html/nonroot.html for details. If you have
trouble, you can try the mailing list for support.

There's several bugs on this and I have about 10% of one of these written. As
always, patches are welcome. See bug 44659 in particular.

You can setup one installation for each virtual host you want to use. Just drop
a different copy of Bugzilla into a directory for each install you want and set
each to use a different database. If you wanted to create a lot of installs, you
could write a simple script to automate this. Another option would be to write a
patch that adds a param to have Bugzilla use a different database depending on
the virtual host it is being called from. You could file a bug on this if you
would like.
