I'm not sure if it's Firefoxs fault, but it's the only application i experienced
this behaviour and i think it only affects people using Mac OS X:

I use SideTrack 0.9 by Alex Harper
(http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/sidetrack/) which enables various features
for the trackpad. I have right/left scrolling configured on the bottom on the
trackpad.
As i understand left/right scrolling with shift moves in the history back and
forth which is a very annoying feature on Mac OS X and there is already a bug
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=248251) filed that there should be
at least an option to disable it on Mac OS X because it is not the usual
behaviour on this platform.
But i have experienced something else:
if you tap click on the trackpad and then scroll on the (horizontal) scrollarea
for left/right scrolling the history also moves back- and forward, although
WITHOUT the shift key down.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. populate the history by surfing to some websites
2. tap click on the trackpad and then emediatly
3. scroll left/right in the horizontal scroll area

Actual Results:
The browsers walks through the history as if the shift key is pressed down

Expected Results:
nothing, execept a left/right scroll in the browser window if applicable.

This is a bigger problem now that Apple has released Powerbooks with "two-finger
scrolling". It is no longer necessary to have Sidetrack installed to experience
this bug.

When attempting to use two fingers to scroll vertically in Firefox, if both
fingers don't hit the trackpad at the same instant, a horizontal scroll is
registered, which sends you back several pages (or forward several pages,
depending on which finger hit first).
I think that this is the same issue as <a

Hi!

I have a new 1.67 Ghz PowerBook with the scrolling trackpad feature. Whenever I
use my two-finger horizontal-scroll option it does the same as a <Shift> Scroll
with FireFox only. I never had that problem before with my Safari browser.

My trackPad is also a little sensitive; so while using the vertical-scrolling
feature, often my page shifts slightly to the left or right on other browsers.
However, with FireFox the page changes all together to other previous or forward
pages.

Basically, nearly every time I try to scroll up or down a page I get sent to
another page because of the FireFox bug thing. Please fix this first, ok?
This happens on Linux as well. I just got a Mighty Mouse, and I experience this
as well. All Linux applications seem to use key 6/7 as scroll left/right, yet
firefox breaks that norm and uses it as forward back. Perhaps this needs to be
changed so that 6/7 is scroll (as per the psuedo standard), and 8/9 as the
forward back. I want the side-scroll to work in all apps, not just firefox, or
every other app but firefox.
I have same problem on my new iBook/Mac OS 10.4. Using two fingers on the
touchpad for scrolling almost always sends me back in history.

This is extremely annoying and makes the Firefox v.1.0.7 unusable. Please fix it
soon...
I'd like to bump this and say that this is still a problem that eeds to be fixed, mozilla gives me the same problem when I use my new macbook, they should at least make a patch to allow the side to side scrolling to be disabled in mozilla. Please fix soon, I love mozilla programs and don't want to have to stop using them.
