In our intranet we refer to local sites using URLs like

http://d1s12/apps/like/data/it/optisim.nsf?OpenDatabase

Firefox refuses to resolve URLs of that type and simply does nothing.
The only way I found to force firefox to display intranet sites is to
change the URL to something preceded by file://///, for instance,

file://///d1s07/upgm/Process/Optisim/General/doc/prd/steadystate/v7110/frame.html

which looks strange to me.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
Firefox simply did nothing when I entered

http://d1s12/apps/like/data/it/optisim.nsf?OpenDatabase

Expected Results:
Display the site.
You mean UNC ... please correct the summary.
See bug 70871 comment 13 for details of file://///host/path (you can also use
file:///\\host/path). Runs on your host "d1s12" a web server? If not, http:// is
incorrect and you have to use the file:/// syntax because you access a local
file and not a server document. Same for IE. Or do you mean file://host/path
(which works with IE)?

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
