Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041103 Firefox/1.0RC2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041103 Firefox/1.0RC2 I have tabbrowser extension installed. When I upgraded from firefox PR to firefox RC2, opening a new tab from an external program (for example thunderbird, but I confirmed the behavior in other programs too) overwrites the current tab, instead of opening a new one. Before the upgrade it used to open a new tab (as per my preferences settings). I tried loading QuickTabPrefToggle extension to see if it was a simple bug in the tabbrowser extension, but the behavior remains broken in the same way. I also tried setting the preference to "open a new window" without effect: the current tab continued to have the new URL loaded in it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I should probably add that tab behavior purely from within firefox works fine: middle (or control) clicking opens a new tab, as do popups (as per my preferences settings). It is only links from external programs that regressed to overwritting the tab.

If you disable any extension that's trying to affect external links, and set your preference in the new Tabbed Browsing section of Tools-Options-Advanced to something other than "the most recent tab/window" does it work? If so, please resolve this "WORKSFORME". Thanks.
Summary: tabs from external program (thunderbird) no longer open a new tab → links from external program (thunderbird) no longer open a new tab

You're right; if I uninstall the "tab" extensions then it opens a new tab; I'm guessing the new firefox way of doing it is (not yet) compatible with the extensions. Sorry for wasting your time....
