probably a dupe of bug 243606. Reporter if you agree, can you report back here?

I've been in touch with Cycore [the maker of Cult 3d] several times & they're
very helpful. They're using firefox themselves :)

They've been making several updates to their installers. I'll post more in bug
243606.

Note that this is WFM for me with Moz from Nov 25 under XP SP2.
From a Cycore e-mail, reporter, does this help?

"Thanks for the info. We found a sort of a workaround to install the Cult3D
Viewer on newer Mozilla/Firefox browsers. There is now two clicks to install the
Cult3D Viewer., the first is to come to the download page, and there the user
itself must actively begin the XPI installation. In the past it only required
the user to click once on the download page to initiate the XPI installation. So
this old install behaviour falls under the restriction newer Mozilla's has to
block less serious sites use to automatically initiate XPI installation. It is
slightly more complicated for the user but it works.

So what you say in your e-mail is that in future releases of Mozilla, only
trusted sites can install XPI's by default? Does a company like Cycore have any
chance to become part of the Mozilla plug-in install white list?"

I don't think we'll have anything beyond update.mozilla.org as a default trusted
site. Users should be able to pick for themselves what sites they trust.

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
