Reporter, popup-blocking is activated by default. Are you sure you've disabled it (see Options -> Web Features) ? And if you did, can you give an example of a website where the popup doesn't occur? Note that if the popup-blocker is still working (and the popup doesn't show due to another problem, like a JavaScript-error), you should see a message at the top of the screen : 'Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window ...'.

I'm getting this exact same problem - I have uninstalled ALL plugins (extensions) and completely disabled pop-up blocking. I have even added all the domains I regularly use to the "Allowed domains" box. I have turned of loading popups in to new tabs. I am using the very latest stable release of Mozilla Firefox on Windows XP. The pop-ups stopped since a recent upgrade. I've just reinstalled my plugins and no change whether they are there or not. In case it's an artifact caused by a plugin, here's a list of my plugins: DOM Inspector 1.0 Adblock .5 d2 nightly 39 Bandwidth tester 0.4.2 BBCode 0.3.7 Checky 2.5 ColorZilla 2.5 Copy Plain Text 0.3 DictionarySearch 0.9.2 Download Statusbar 0.9.2 downTHEMall! 0.9.4 Flags 0.4 googlebar 0.9.5.06 JavaScript Debugger 0.9.84 miniT (drag+indicator) 0.5 Named anchors 0.15 Show Anchors 1.12 Sort Extensions 1.0 Tabbrowser Preferences 1.2.4 Table Inspector 0.1 TargetAlert 0.7.4 Translate 0.6.0.7 User Agent Switcher 0.6.5 Web Color Names 1.0.14 Web Developer 0.9.3 My tabbrowser prefs for some reason was set to launch all popups in a new tab - I set it to launch no popups in a new tab (assuming that would return things to normal) but so far it's my best guess as to what's causing this problem. The problem affects 100% of popups - no matter where they are used. I am starting to suffer from depression due to a recent increase in exposure to Internet Explorer!! Please save my sanity and fix this bug. There's only so mugh untabbed Internet Explorer browsing I can take! :P

Regarding the chap who said "Could this be bug 260264?" - no, I don't think it is - NO popups work, not even 1. It's a complete halt on all things popup.
Same problem here as well. No popups work at all. Tried everything I could think of. Started right after the recent update. Extensions: SwiftTabs 0.3 Tabbrowser Prefs 1.2.5 FireFTP 0.88.3 BBCode 0.4.1 Copy Url+ 1.3.1 Foxy Tunes 1.1 Optimoz Tweaks 0.3 Download Manager Tweak 0.6.5 ColorZilla 0.8.2 Feedview 0.9.7 Sage 1.3.3 Greasemonkey 0.2.6
I have the exact same problem. No popups work at all unless I set them to open in a new tab. Also tried everything including upgrading to latest version as soon as they are released. As with the others it started soon after a recent update. I am now having to use Avant the tabbed version of Internet Explorer.
I have the same problem, I am running XP Pro SP2 with 256 MB ram, I have excluded the site in the popup settings and turned off the blocking and after a few hours of working the popup blocking message comes up and the popups will not return without closing and openning the application Firefox 1.0.4
I had this problem but fixed it: I had installed FF v1 then uninstalled and installed FF v 1.04, mainly because of another problem with acrobat. Ifound that the popup blocker remained active even though it was unchecked in Tools/Options/Web Features. I then uninstalled FF 1.04, deleted the Mozilla folder in Docs & Settings/AppData, in order to be sure that my old default profile was gone. I then reinstalled FF 1.04 and it works beautifully.
