Hi

Firefox is gaining popularity fast. Still most of the general public - those who
have not been involved in Mozilla community for long, do not know about
extensibility of the Firefox browser.

This is mostly due to the lack of highly visible pointers to the extensions
feature in any of the firefox homepages.

Since tabbed browsing, popup-blocking and other "killer features" are surfacing
now on most every browser, those features are becoming more of a basic
nesessities of any browsing interface and lose the attractiveness they used to
have. You need to build user awareness of the extensions, by promoting the
feature of extensibility as well as the individual extensions, so that end-users
would know, their browser can be further customized and be aware of the possible
extension choices, gving them an idea of the diversity of the ext4ensions.
Good points. We plan on promoting Extensions and Themes more heavily once
addons.mozilla.org (formerly, updates.mozilla.org) is formally launched and
moves out of beta early in the New Year. Links to these resources are already
embedded within Firefox itself within the Tools menu.

initial phase of promotion complete, as of Firefox 1.5 (November 2005) we included top-level navigation to Addons; more plans for the next redesign in line with Firefox 2
