Pretty much what the title summary says.

If you enter threaded view for a particular folder (as I do for my mailing list
folders), then you have the ability to collapse each thread (with the little +
widget). However, you can't collapse sub-threads, or sub-trees of that thread.
Some lists I'm on end up with very long threads, with several tangential
sub-threads within them (discussing different aspects of the original post
maybe). I'd like the ability to collapse those sub-trees that I've already read,
or have no intention of reading.

[Hope I haven't missed a dupe here - I was surprised not to be able to find an
existing bug on this alrady...]
Seamonkey bug 109744, but I don't see a TB dupe.
Summary: Allow collapsing of sub-threads in Threaded view of the message list pane → Allow collapsing of sub-threads in thread pane
Great idea! I would love to see this feature, too. Perhaps, show little "+"
signs in front of every sub-thread? But I suspect it's not easy to do...
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

I don't think I have permissions to 'confirm' this bug, and anyway, I submitted
it so am sure I shouldn't do that anyway. ;-)

This is a Thunderbird version of a confirmed Seamonkey bug: bug 109744. It's an
RFE, and I'm pretty certain it's a valid request! Could someone at least confirm
it, so I don't have to re-submit a bug when it's closed? :-) Even if no one
fixes it in the near future, it would be good to have the bug in the DB.
