RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 252436

People

(Reporter: PatrickLudikhuyze, Assigned: bryner)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

If I create a password which contains a § character, it cannot be used.
When I try to View Saved Passwords, it keeps on asking: "Please enter the master
password for the Software Security Device." over and over again as if the
password was incorrect. (I used Copy/Paste, so I'm sure I have the correct
password.)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create Master password with §
2. Restart Firefox and try View Saved Passwords

Actual Results:
Master password is being asked over and over again.

Expected Results:
Continue to provide access to Stored Sites with passwords.

If one goes to Change Master Password, one can use the password WITH the §
character as Current Password, enter a new password WITHOUT a § and the software
works correctly again after a restart.
But if you don't know that the above is the problem, you'd loose all the stored
passwords ...
