If you set a FTP proxy, and *no* HTTP proxy, regular HTTP requests stop working. 
This is because of broken "use proxy when" logic in HTTP.

Cleaning up HTTP to use the new protocol proxy service 
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27728 would probably take care of 
this.

just for the records the problem was that we were not resetting a previously
used mHTTPProxy. 
fix checked in.
