An URL of type "file://///server1/Consulting" works in address bar but doesn't
work in web page as link.

server1 is a network computer (Windows) in my domain. 

Reproducible: Always

This is not allowed to Bug 69070 for security reasons, see bug 268778 comment 3.

See Bug 233108 for allowing it for a particular site.
