"Copy Link Location" ought to be removed from the context menu for mailto: links in a message display window. Normal Users never need to copy "mailto:joe@domain.com" to the clipboard. Few Abnormal Users find the need to do this either. Because this option is there and near the top of the list I have absentmindedly selected it and been annoyed when having to delete the mailto: part of it when I pasted. In fixing this bug, I suggest that "Copy Email Address" take the place of this option in the menu as I personally use it more than the other options.

Good idea. It's not like typing "mailto:" is particularly onerous. The mismatch between context menu on an HTTP link and that on a MAILTO link is pretty sloppy as it is -- note the different placement of the separator next to "Copy Link Location." Implementing this bug would clean that up as a side effect.

I would suggest copy email address be moved above copy link location, as opposed to trying to conditionally disable the option. At least, the casual user will likely hit the desired action at that point. BTW: I'm an abnormal user (web developer) who does copy the mailto: address from time to time. :)

This is still a usability issue on the most recent beta of Thunderbird (3.0b1). I've included a screenshot to help you visualize things. If you right click on a mailto: link in Firefox (my name in bugzilla for instance) the *top* menu item is 'Copy Email Address'. 'Copy Link Location' is no where to be seen. Why? Because the menu item's availability and order are context sensitive (this started in the Mozilla Suite days if memory serves). It's an embarrassment that 'Copy Email Address' is at the bottom of the context menu and 'Copy Link Location' is *still* present in Thunderbird 3 - an application devoted to handling email - while Firefox gets it right.

This works for me in Thunderbird 6 and up (and possibly earlier versions too). Feel free to reopen if you still see it on the latest version.
