I quite like the calendar project, but I would like to see a feature I have seen
in other PC programs and on my Nokia phone.

The calendar tab normally just shows the current month and highlights the
selected day (defaulting with today). All the other days look exactly the same
otherwise. It would be very useful to highlight the days which have events
defined, e.g. by showing the date in bold. It would also be useful to highlight
today's date, e.g. by circling it in red. If there are events from multiple
calendars, perhaps the highlight could be in the same colour as defined in the
calendars tab.

I know that I can use the main window to show a multi-week or month display,
which will show all the defined events, but when I work from a day or single-
week view, I use the calendar tab to navigate to other days that have (or don't
have) events.

Perhaps the little calendar tab should just be replaced with a mini-me version
of the main window in month-view mode (probably without any text apart from the
date)?

I also know that I can press 'go to today', but I don't want to do that when I'm
searching or browsing for a different day; I just need to know which one is
today without actually going there.

Reproducible: Always

None.

I think I should have entered "2005011112-cal" as the build identifier instead.
Showing busy dates in bold in minimonth tab is bug 264150.

Regarding showing date using calendar colors:

Issue: what should happen if day contains events from multiple calendars?

One idea might be to use the color from the first calendar in the list of
calendars that has an event on that day. (This assumes someday users will be
able to easily reorder the calendars in the calendar list.)

Issue: The calendar colors are background colors.

Color the background rather than the digits. (Otherwise it displays something
like yellow digits on white background --- likely too little contrast to be
legible.)

Depends on: 264150
Summary: RFE: Highlight days on calendar tab that have events defined including todays date → RFE: Highlight days on calendar tab that have events defined including todays date [use calendar color]
I agree with gekacheka's comment #2. The visual marker in the minimonth is
already covered in bug 264150 and I think the rest is WONTFIX. To use the
calendar background color would require occasionally switching the text color of
the number in order to preserve contrast, which would look poor, in my opinion.
