The "Save all..." window for the attachs blocks the ability to open a mail. You
can open a mail while "save all" is open but Thunderbir don't show nothing
inside de window that has your mail.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to an email that has 2 attachs and open it in a new window.
2. Ricght-click in one attach and select "Save all...". Thunderbird ask you for
a location, but wait! don't specify nothing at this time.
3. Leave the "Save all" window open and return to the main window (i.e. Inbox)
4. Try to open any other mail (in a new window (default for me)).
5. Go back and close de "Save all" windows. Then you can open any other email
again.

Actual Results:
I can't see any mail while I leave the "Save all" window opened. I see a blank
page (I see buttons but none of text) when I open it in a new window (default
for me).

Expected Results:
hmm... show my email when I open it.

no theme. no crash.
Windows 2000 SP4 working properly.
Similar behavior seen with other modal dialogs, e.g. Print (bug 251396).

Possibly dependent on bug 74331.

But the correct behavior of modal windows is to block the main window: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modal_window

Use cases:
Blocking the application flow until information required to continue is entered, as for example a password in a login process. Another example are file dialogs to open and save files in an application.

Is the proposal here to make it non-modal? I guess the logic here is to prevent pulling the rug out of the saving dialog (ie. deleting the message or attachments while the saving dialog is open)..
