When i try to acces the tools menu- downloads/extensions/themes submenu's,
firefox generates an error message that is worded as "XMLParsing error:
undefined entry
Location: chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul
Line Number: 17 Column: 34
 orient = "vertical" title = "&downloads.title;" statictitle="&downloads.title;"
------------------------------^

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the tools menu
2.select the Downloads option
3.

Actual Results:
the browser throws a popup screen with a yelowish background and a thinline red
border within which the following error message is shown.
 "XMLParsing error: undefined entry
Location: chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul
Line Number: 17 Column: 34
 orient = "vertical" title = "&downloads.title;" statictitle="&downloads.title;"
------------------------------^

Expected Results:
the browser shoul have opened the interface for the download manager instead.

the browser was working fine until i recently downloaded and installed the
following extensions.
1. bandwidth tester
2. java console
3. javascript console
and a few others like locale changer which i later uninstalled.
its the screengrab that better illistrates the error message that i get when i
click on the downloads menu item of the tools menu. i also get a slightly
different version of the messaage when trying to access the extensions, themes
menu items, of the tools menu.
the screengrab of the error message that i get while trying to access the
extensions menu item, this same error window is encountered when i try
accessing the themes submenu also.
Can you see if this happens if you start firefox in safe mode
(start/programs/firefox/firefox safe mode)?

i have tried starting with a new profile. now it works fine. however, am still
skeptical whether thats the right way of fixing the problem. thanks a lot. i
hope you are able to figure out an absolute fix until then, thanks for the
workaround.
now lemme get back to importing all my bookmarks. aint gonna download any
extensions though...! (just kidding...who can resist foxytunes etc..!!)
