User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4

For web pages that do not fit on one screen Firefox View Source function does
not cover all visible area when called from Full Screen mode.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox and switch to Full Screen mode
2. Navigate to page that is long enough (scroll bar should appear).
3. Press Ctrl+U. Note view at the bottom of the page.

Expected Results:
Open Source window in Full Screen too.
Unable to reproduce the bug using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1;
en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050523 Firefox/1.0+.

Could you provide an example website for which the problem appears, please :)

Comment #1 is missing step 4. Maximize Source window.
I agree, the source window should cover the whole screen.
Is this happening in other OSs?
I think this is probably Windows-only (I can repro on XP)... unless other
operating systems also do the following:

If Auto-Hide for the taskbar is off, the size of a maximized window only goes
down to the top of the taskbar, whether it's visible or hidden behind a
full-screen window. Turning Auto-Hide on allows View Source to go all the way
to the bottom of the screen.
This is how IE handles this issue. When the source window (or any other window)
is selected, the taskbar is shown. I think this is the behavior we should aim
to.
I also found out that the bug can be reproduced with another Firefox browser
window, not necessarily the View Source window.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Firefox.
2. Open a new Firefox window (Ctrl + N).
3. Put one of the two windows in Full Screen Mode.
4. Put focus on the other window (using Alt+Tab).
5. Maximize the focused window.

Actual results:
Taskbar doesn't show.

Expected results:
Taskbar shows, as it does when selecting a window from any other application.
I don't quite understand what is failing - it WFM, covers entire screen
including taskbar area, no blank space
XP Deerpark alpha 2 (nightly) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US;

those who haven't done so yet, please retry with a nightly build

Didn't realize this was still unco.

Confirming with
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050718
Firefox/1.0+

Still occurs -- when the taskbar is not set to auto-hide, Firefox's full-screen
view-source window is just maximized rather than truly full-screen.
Severity: normal → minor
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

As of Firefox 101 (and probably quite some some time earlier), the bug as originally reported is now fixed... because the View Source window is opened as a new tab, and so is part of a truly fullscreen window. Closing, somewhat arbitrarily, as RESOLVED INVALID.

Its further elucidation by :jorgev is still open, but is being worked on as bug 1732517.
