I've noticed this with recent (at least since 20050614) trunk builds on Mac and
Linux: cannot seem to edit the feed URL.

1. make sure you already have some RSS feeds you've subscribed to.
2. open the RSS Subuscriptions dialog.
3. select and expand a feed folder, and select a feed.
4. click the Edit button (or double-click the feed).
5. in the resulting dialog, try to change the content in the Feed URL textfield.

results: unable to change the Feed URL textfield. problematic if the feed's URL
changes.
hm, wonder if the fix for 289629 might've caused this?

this was a bug in a 2005050910-trunk build.
This was done by design and I thought this was true back in 1.0 as well but
maybe it was something I did with the new UI.

if this is by design, then we might as well make the content in the URL Feed
field appear disabled.

sarah it is disabled, the textbox should have a big grey box in the back ground.
IT looks disbled on windows. :)

it doesn't have the disabled appearance on the Mac --perhaps that's a theme
issue then?

I don't mean to be an idiot, but why can't you change where a feed is located?

In addition, would a 302 Permanent Redirect (not sure if its 302) change the URL
for you?
your right sairuh, I see this on Mac OS X where the texbox doesn't look disabled.

it's also the case on Linux, too. (looking at yesterday's trunk build there.)

Sorry for the dependency bugspam: two Core:Widget bugs and not the one Toolkit bug I thought. Should be fixed on Mac once I get a checkin.

Well, regarding the question whether this is by design. There is an edit button in the UI interface and it pops up a dialog where one assumes to be able to edit the feed URL. Alas, it is not possible. It would be nice to change it, though.

I'm using Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 (20061025) on Windows with the default theme, and the Feed URL does not appear as being disabled. I wasn't aware that the field was intended to be read-only... it would be very nice if we could edit feed URLs.

Not being able to edit the URL of the feed is really annoying. For instance, if your Bugzilla installation is restricted to logged in users only, you have to manually add the Bugzilla_login and Bugzilla_password to the URL so that you can still download feeds. But Thunderbird doesn't let us do it. Instead of disabling the URL field, I would prefer to see it editable for real.

Fixed up the dependency chain - it now looks (roughly, fairly) disabled on Linux.

Let's start with a fresh bug for the "it shouldn't look or be disabled, I want to change it" thing.

Can you please reopen this? Build "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.23) Gecko/20110922 Thunderbird/3.1.15" still has this problem.
I can't spot how this looks disabled, either. Reopening.

Did anybody ever open the "it shouldn't look or be disabled, I want to change it" ticket?

the feed url can now be updated in the Subscribe dialog, per bug 716706.
