Details
This affects both SeaMonkey & Thunderbird, and I think it needs to block the fixing drag n drop move/copy/mail list bug. Steps to reproduce: 1) Have two address books, one empty (a), one with at least one card in (b) 2) drag card from b to a. 3) repeat Actual Results: Two duplicate cards in address book a. Expected Results, one of: No duplicate cards/warning of duplication/merge (bug 295572)/denial of duplication To minimise warning dialogs, we could provide a check to see if the card is largely the same, i.e. maybe check for First, Last, Display Name & Email, and only display a warning if they are all the same as an existing one. Any comments?

(:standard8), do you agree to close this as dupe of bug #45946?

It’s way too easy to mess up your address books and Lists by moving names around between them-- my book now has duplicates of every name, and when I deleted the extras I found that all my Lists were empty too! How about if Thunderbird could merge all the duplicates or otherwise make sure that if you’re deleting duplicates, the Contact is still in the Lists they’re supposed to be on unless the Contact was totally deleted?
