On my machine, mailbox-files of thunderbird are fragmenting very fast. Everytime
I defragment my harddisk, I see, that mailbox-files are very heavily fragmented.

I don't how the compacting feature exactly works, but I think this feature
should write the file, which will be compacted, completely new. So, Thunderbird
could be much faster!!e era 

Reproducible: Always
that's what it does - we copy all the messages that are not deleted to a tmp
file, and rename the tmp file over the original file.
