User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 I copied a text from another e-mail I wrote a few minutes ago. The text contained Fixed Width and "Arial, Helvetica" font. Then I tried to change those font by selecting all the message. In the font selector, it's writing (mixed) and I selected "Arial, Helvetica" and changed the size by clicking the "Large Font Size" button. Only the already "Arial, Helvetica" font changed but not the "Fixed Width" one. I had to select only the "Fixed Width" part of the text to change that font. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an e-mail with fixed width and "non-fixed width" font 2. Copy the text in another e-mail 3. Try to change fonts by selecting all the message in one Actual Results: mmmh ... can't change font size.... Expected Results: change font size...

Which version of TB is this bug reported against? I am unable to reproduce, with 1.0.6 or 1.6a1-0830. Maybe you could finetune the "steps to reproduce", they're a little vague. In particular, it's not clear whether you're copying the text from a compose window or a message-display window. Did you go back and check that you can't resize the entire text block as originally typed in (rather than pasted)?

The version of TB is : version 1.0.6 (20050716) I can reproduce the bug with the e-mail I still have in my "Sent" box. I'm copying text from a display message window (in my "Sent" box) in a edit message window (my new e-mail). It's the same if I'm right mouse clicking the e-mail, still in my "Sent" box, and select the "Edit as new..." option. But yeah, I cannot reproduce an e-mail that's generating the bug. Do you know how I can send you the e-mail ? I put a GIF image in attachment where you can see the selected line, written in "Courrier" but in the fonts select box you will see the "Helvetica, Arial" indication.

The selected text is in "Courrier" but in the fonts select box you can see "Helvetica, Arial". At this moment, if I select "Fixed width" and then back to "Helvetica, Arial", the font don't change anymore. Same if I try to change size but Bold, Italic and Underline is working fine.

(In reply to comment #3) > Created an attachment (id=194896) [edit] > Image that show the bug in action Hm. In that example, was *all* the text in that message copied from the original, or just the text that's shown with a fixed-width font? If the latter, the quick workaround is to use "Paste Without Formatting" (from the Edit menu).

I copied all the text. I still have the e-mail I used and I can reproduce the bug each time from this e-mail. I am going to install Thunderbird 1.5. I will tell you if it happen the same way in that version.

Ok, the bug is happening the same way in TB 1.5. Some more informations : - My default font is Helvetica, Arial so when I am creating a new mail I am writing it in Helvetica, Arial. - In that e-mail, I am using a bulleted list. The bulleted lists are always doing strange things with fonts. If you have a default font and create a bulleted list (by clicking on the appropriate button) you won't write the bulleted text line in your default font (here, Helvetica, Arial) but in "Variable width" font. - The problem won't happen if you change the font word by word. It happens only if you are trying to change the font of all the text including the one above the bulleted list.

(In reply to comment #6) > - In that e-mail, I am using a bulleted list. The bulleted lists are always > doing strange things with fonts. Yeah, this is a known problem; bug 250539. When you paste the data in, using a bulleted list, how exactly is this being done? What is the precise sequence of typing, pasting and formatting that you perform to get into this state?

I can confirm that this behaviour also exists in 1.5.0.5.

This happens also here with latest Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091027 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0pre ID:20091027032153 I can't provide a closely STRs but in general I have this problem when receive mail from outlook (but not always) In this case I use this workaround: 1. select part of mesagge that is "mixed"; 2. (compose window) menu--> Format --> remove all text styles attached email testcase (modified for privacy). Open, edit as draft: I can't decrease font size selection quoted text and click on related icon on compose bar. Set to new.
