309450 - When opening a new window, both in online and offline modes, RSS feeds freeze thunderbird for a while

When I open a new window in thunderbird, I experience a 40 seconds delay waiting
for the new window. In the meantime, thunderbird is not responding, neither
redraws its windows if needed.

When the 40 seconds passes, the thunderbird goes fine.

Looking at thunderbird with a "strace" probe, I see thunderbird processing RSS
feeds related files. This processing freezes thunderbird for several seconds,
ever minutes, if you have a lot of rss feeds like me.

The issue is reproducible both in online and offline mode.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Thunderbird. You will need to be subscribed to some RSS feeds.
2. Launch a "strace" probe on Thunderbird.
3. Select a folder, right click and select "Open in a New Mail Window".
4. Look at the "strace" probe and observe "rss feed" file activity. This is very
costly if you have a lot of feeds.
5. Repeat the steps, changing online/offline status.
Actual Results:  
You see a lot of RSS feeds file processing. In the meanwhile, thunderbird
freezes. If you have a lot of RSS feeds, the freeze can last minutes.

Expected Results:  
No RSS feeds file traffic, no thunderbird freezing.

Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is 2.0.0.16)
