I received and email with its signature in a Marquee tag.

I could not see the information in the signature (unless I viewed the source).

Remove the tag, or changing userContent to kill Marqee tags allowed me to see
the text.

If thunderbird's html render doesn't want to render marquee's it should just
render the text as normal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open an email with a marquee tag in

Actual Results:
Text in signature was hidden

Expected Results:
Either displayed the marquee, or display the text normally

Below is the source of the email in question:

Duplicate of bug 240262?
Quite possibly a dupe of that bug.

There are two marquees in the sig; the text of the first one appears (the
white-on-green "Robert Half") and the other, with the contact info, does not.

Open the attachment in IE6, and you'll see what I believe is the intended
behavior: the green "Robert Half" bit slides downwards, while the
address/contact information slides in from the right; both parts arrive at
their destination at the same time and stop moving. It's a nice effect that
has no business being in a mail sig. :)

Open the attachment in Firefox (1.0.x), and you'll see what I believe is the
best you could hope for with Mozilla product: the two parts move continuously
in classic marquee style; the first part slides vertically across the height
not only of its own tag but the following tag.	Probably the behavior is buggy
even if the slide-once-and-stop motion isn't supported.

> I could not see the information in the signature (unless I viewed the
source).

You could also use View | Message Body As | Simple HTML
I agree that this is a bad thing in a sig.

Am not sure whether this has the same root cause as bug 240262, but the
behavior is different.

The fix of turning on simple HTML works, but screws up other pages. A better
work around is to add marquee { -moz-binding: none; } to userContent.css.

Better still, the html should render correctly. Either it should ignore the
tag (as non-standard) and just show the text, or handle the tag.

perhaps multiple problems here which I'm not likely to research. In TB trunk and 2.0.0.12, all I see is

</html>

Isn't marquee tags no longer supported? I thought they were part of the antique web.
WFM here on

Reporter could you try to see if it still happens with
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.1/ ?
Whiteboard: closeme 2009-10-23
This is fixed in the nightly as says in comment #7 and also with today build

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091020 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0pre ID:20091020031302

TB 2.X is a security fix and maintainance branch it's very unlikely that what fixed this bug ends up backported to the 2.x branch.
