Details

As we are preparing localized beta 2 builds we noticed, that there was no
announcement for localized update-urls. At the moment we use

app.update.url=https://aus.mozilla.org/update/firefox/de.rdf

but we don't know, whether there is an infrastructure to listen to that. As we
couldn't do any QA on the update mechanism until now we desperatly need this to
work in this beta cycle.
The new system uses
https://aus2.mozilla.org/update/1/%PRODUCT%/%VERSION%/%BUILD_ID%/%BUILD_TARGET%/%LOCALE%/%CHANNEL%/update.xml

For example, for a Windows en-US Firefox nightly on the nightly channel
https://aus2.mozilla.org/update/1/Firefox/1.4/2005100307/WINNT_x86-msvc/en-US/nightly/update.xml

So locales can clearly be supported using this scheme. The real need is then for
the build and update system configuration to create and serve the relevant
information.
->WFM. Localizations have been taken into account in the update URL schema.

One can see progress on creating update files on the Linux l10n build trees.
You can't see it but the update infrastructure is being created and tested, too.
 This has been a long time in the making. Expect things to begin to come
together shortly.
