Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 After installing/removing extensions, all instances of the browser need to be closed down manually then a new instance needs to be opened manually to complete the process. Surely there should be a way of restarting the browser in this situation which does not mean that the internet surfer has all their open web pages closed down just to install an extension (File-> Restart Browser, a "restart browser" toolbar button, or a special "restart browser" button on the Extensions dialog)? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install an extension (XPI file) from an extension provider. 2. Manually restart the browser as requested in Extensions dialog (all open websites are lost). Actual Results: I had to attempt to remember which websites I had open when I was using the browser before I installed an extension. Expected Results: With a "Restart Browser" feature as above, a function could be implemented that allows automatic restarting of the browser, saving open websites, browser window positions, etc. in a temporary file, then restoring browser windows as they were before installation of an extension.

bug 256509 is a different / better solution to essentially the same request.

This solution seems like it would be good extension material. At least for me it is wontfix since it addresses only the EM, has dependencies outside of the EM that have not been implemented, and bug 256509 provides a better solution for the EM.
