In Firefox 1.0.7, it's possible to use Ctrl+Left and Ctrl+Right to move the invisible cursor.

This is no longer possible in Firefox 1.5.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a web page and use "tab" to move to any link.
2. Press Ctrl+Right a few times.
3. Press Shift+Right to mark text.
Actual Results:  
The selection starts at the active link.

Expected Results:  
The selection starts at where the invisible cursor has been moved using Ctrl+Right.  (This was the behavior of Firefox 1.0.7.)

It works fine when activating "Allow text to be selected with the keyboard" in the preferences dialog, but I do not want to use this option because the Up and Down keys would move the cursor instead of immediately scrolling the page.

Yup, I'm still seeing the described behavior in Firefox 2.0.0.4 on X11.

Still seeing behaviour with this build.
No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
