User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 i am member of http://www.kwick.de/ after login i go to the chat room Flirtecke (FSK 18) after some minutes of chatting, suddenly firefox use 95 % CPU usage and everything is slow until i manage to close the chat. the chat is a javascript chat. i have notice this bug not only on this computer but also at the computer i use at my familys home. i can see the CPU usage because i use process explorer 9.25, where i see the firefox.exe!jpeg_ifast+0*5595 causing the 95 % CPU usage and more... please go to http://www.kwick.de/ and check out the bug, also please let process explorer run to see the CPU usage. the bug will start after 5 or 10 minutes of chatting. thanx for help in advance. by the way: without java script the chat at kwick wont work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. see description 2. 3. Actual Results: see description Expected Results: CPU usage at 1 to 5 % as usuals

Please test with Firefox1.5RC3 to see if you still get the bug.

sorry, but i am not going to use 1.5RC3, i had troubles with firefox beta, it had started downloading updates and then again and again... so i had removed it and now i use only firefox 1.0.7 with 1.0.7 i can also use extension, with 1.5 i never could.

You can disable updates in Tools->Options->Advanced->Updates Extensions can become disabled when upgrading, but maybe you could enable them with right-click context menu in the extensions window item and then choose "enable".

i have installed the extension "No script" just now my CPU usage in the chat is again 95 % and more... connected to the chat server is 82.98.71.220 after i disabled javascript for 82.98.71.220, my CPU usage is normal again my firfox is back stable again unfortunately the chat does not work properly now anymore... javascript for kwick.de is still allowed anyway.

now i use opera 851, and i dont have problems in the chat anymore, my system is stable all the time, that means its a firefox or one of its extensions bug, i have the following extensions installed: flashgot5997 zoomy20 imagezoom171 bgmconductor203 tabbrowserpreferrences1287 flashblock132 noscript1132 actually i am not interested to use opera also, but seems i have no other choice since this bug is fixed. i hope someone of you can try and also find the same bug during the chat at kwick.de, all is german page and you will need simple registration first (its for free, no payment neeeded).

"A script on this page is causing mozilla to run slowly... do you want to abort the script" afer YES, my firefox is stable again. but how can i disable that one special script forever ?

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.3 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
