Propose adding better behavior for message selection for RSS items:

Currently: Message list item is selected (single click or arrow scroll), item story (summary|web page) appears according to pref in the message pane. <Enter> opens new Tb window with same (summary|web page) as MP.

Proposed: Option to decide behavior of <enter>|<dbl-click> to select.
1.Run command (I want to run script to set MOZ.. to 1 and open Fx with a lite profile).
2.Open default browser with url of web page related to feed item.
3.Open new Tb window with web page.
4.Open web page in message pane if default is summary in MP. **
4.Nothing, perhaps.

I would use ** and this would be an enormous usability enhancement. It would allow very fast skimming, something that cannot be done currently in Tb RSS reading, allowing selection of slower loading web pages only for worthy summaries, or authors in the case of a forum.

What I really would like, is for the Tb message pane to be a full browser, so I can hit enter and see the web page in the MP and links to open there etc. etc. but I'm being realistic..

Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

Yes, I know that making the Tb MP a full browser is not in favor (though I respectfully disagree).

So I'm hoping the above proposal will at least get one from RSS summary to web page in the MP very fast, just a slight change from how it works now, by adding customization to <enter>.

Ability to then do css stylization in the MP would pretty much remove any need for full browser for RSS reading purposes. And WP of Adblockplus is considering ABP for Tb; this would complete the major features to make Tb the RSS reader of choice for me.

Thanks.
you know, i was looking at the code for this, how summaries vs. web page loading is done. very clever solution, creating an inline pseudo attachment for either the one or the other.

it seems an easy (though beyond me) solution for this rfe would be to create 2 attachments, both summary and web page (latter is just a small holder for the url anyway). then a user could toggle between one and the other dynamically (on threadpane click or other such way) - no more need to change the pref and redownload. a big usability improvement.

thoughts?
